Mel Blanc & Friends: The Man of 1,000 Voices

Mel Blanc & Friends: The Man of 1,000 Voices In-Person

The Perrot Memorial Library and The Wallace Center are pleased to present, “Mel Blanc & Friends: The Man of 1,000 Voices,” an interesting and fun presentation by Joe Gianquinto, on Wednesday, October 1, from 1 to 3 pm in our Program Room. Attendees are invited to bring a brown bag lunch. Coffee, tea, and water will be provided.

“Mel Blanc & Friends: The Man of 1,000 Voices,” brings to life  a character so familiar to millions from the worlds of cartoons, radio, and television. Joe Gianquinto will explore how Mel Blanc got started doing voices by imitating dialects of immigrants from other countries, his segue into radio, and his miraculous recovery from a serious auto accident.

Included will be clips featuring routines with Mel and Jack Benny. Mel had a long and successful relationship with Benny, who arguably was his best friend. You might say the same thing about Bugs Bunny!

Mel’s colorful life, so rich in material, is a story that needs to be told!

Joe Gianquinto is a 38-year veteran of the television industry. After two active-duty tours in the U.S. Army, Joe worked for five years at the William Etsy Ad Agency before launching a long career in broadcasting working behind the scenes at ABC, NBC, ESPN, and Westinghouse Broadcasting.
