The Jack Benny Radio Program, a Presentation by Joe Gianquinto

The Jack Benny Radio Program, a Presentation by Joe Gianquinto In-Person

The Perrot Memorial Library and the Wallace Center invite you to attend an informative and entertaining look back at the Jack Benny Radio Program, on Wednesday, September 25, from 12 to 2 pm in our Program Room, Radcliffe Building, Perrot Memorial Library. Joe Gianquinto, long-time Greenwich resident and veteran of the television industry, will be our presenter. Participants are invited to bring along a brown bag lunch. The Library will provide coffee, tea, and bottled water.

The Jack Benny Radio Program was the most successful comedy program from the Golden Age of Radio. The show was a departure from the norm because the star, Jack Benny, became the fall guy with his cast of characters providing the comic relief. You'll hear about Benny's challenges launching a radio program during the Great Depression, as well as his success in assembling what many television historians and critics refer to as the best cast and group of writers to emerge from 1945 to the mid-50s.

Joe Gianquinto is a 38-year veteran of the television industry. After two active-duty tours in the U.S. Army, Joe worked for five years at the William Etsy Ad Agency before launching a long career in broadcasting working behind the scenes at ABC, NBC, ESPN and Westinghouse Broadcasting.

Registration is required.
